Sovereign Immunity, Design Speculation for Moot Courts

ROLE: researcher, curator, and designer.

RESPONSIBILITY: create a design speculation

SUBTEXT: This J-Term course, taught by the metalab and Forensis the course, explored how hypotheticals from law can be made real, known, present, or possible on some basis other than written text and spoken word used by law students in the Ames competition. My final project temporalized the tribal court as the authentic venue of an ‘American’ judicial system. “Sovereign Immunity” uses AI to visualizes a series of genealogies of judicial thought made over the American landscape and sonically arranges “When We Remain” by Choctaw singer, Samantha Crain, a vocal resonation of the rightful claim of tribal law as the natural law of America.
